Welfare Bureau promises more services, greater support |

Increasing the development of the existent services, studying the creation of a food bank and following up the domestic violence legislation is the government's aim for this year, said the Social Welfare Institute president in a spring lunch for the media. Ip Peng Kim left words of encouragement and confidence for the New Lunar Year and announced some changes would be made related to next year's social activities. “We want to launch more prevention and information about domestic violence as well as dedicate more of our time to ensure children's rights under the United Nations convention.” In his speech he also mentioned the launch of a new service called “Tele-Alarm” will reenforce the intention to protect more senior citizens rights as well as the development of social enterprises in rehabilitation situations. The president of the Social Welfare Institute also mentioned it was important to create a system which will enable to classify and registration special needs as well as come up with a disability subsidy, going in line with the Chief Executive's Policy Address. |
