As part of MGM Grand Macau's anniversary tribute to movie-goers, the hotel-resort is presenting its first collaboration with Media Asia Films, the romantic blockbuster “Look for a Star”. MGM hosted the “Look for a Star” premiere and cocktail last night, where award-winning director Andrew Lau and his casts including Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Denise Ho and Lam Ka Wah were in attendance as the officiating guests for the evening. The movie also saw participation from more than 200 hotel team members. Hours before commencing the premiere at Macau Tower, more than 100 VIPs from the government, organisers, sponsors, along with the cast, society elite and socialites attended the cocktail party with radio DJ Sammy as the emcee. After Mr Grant Bowie, CEO of MGM Macau, greeted guests with a welcome speech, Director Lau, Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Denise Ho, Lam Ka Wah and other casts shared their filming experience with the guests. Mr Bowie then presented them with Chinese New Year lucky charms embedded with tailored gifts. Andy Lau received a red piece of paper with half of his name printed on, so as to wish him luck in finding his “better half” in the near future; Shu Qi received a golden key, a metaphor of her as the owner of “the key to happiness”; Director Lau’s lucky charm came with a gaming chip which is synonymous with a brilliant success at the box-office. To commemorate the special occasion, Mr Bowie presented the hotel-resort’s signature reserva wine “MGM GRAND Macau, ‘1812’ by Luis Pato” as a gift of appreciation to Director Lau on behalf of the hotel. Guests at the cocktail party then proceeded to Macau Tower Theatre to join more than 300 others for the premiere of “Look for a Star,” which brought them into the journey of Milan and Sam (played by Shu Qi and Andy Lau). Among the guests in attendance were Ms Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director of Macau Government Tourist Office, Ms Faye Ho and Ms Terry Siu. A romantic comedy centrally based in Macau, “Look for a Star” is a story about the fateful encounter of an unlikely couple: Sam, a successful managing director of an eminent hotel and Milan, an optimistic, beautiful casino croupier at a five-star luxury casino-hotel. The plot highlights two heart-rending love stories played by Andy Lau and Shu Qi, Golden-Horse-winning actor Zhang Han Yu and singer-actor Denise Ho. Filming at Macau’s tourists spots and streets were made possible with the support of Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), while most of the scenes in the movie were shot at the MGM GRAND Macau.
