The construction to add up fences at the Cotai ecological zone is going to start in a short time, said the Infrastructure Development Office (GDI). It is expected to be completed within 150 days.
The aim of the construction is to build up a metal fence around the first zone of the Cotai ecological zone as well as pave a pedestrian walkway along Avenida de Cotai.
Owing to the fences in part of the area of the ecological zone being too low and taken the safety of the security guards and visitors into considerations, the according department decided to build the new fences in the zone.
In order to compensate the blockage of view in the zone after constructing the fences, observation decks for visitors will be built in the area.
Meanwhile, the construction will also include the increment of more environmental education elements along the ecological zone.
In order to reduce the impact of construction on migratory birds, it has been especially selected that the construction commence during non-migration season.
This is one of the small-to-medium-size constructions that the government introduced last year as to create more jobs in the market for locals.
The government opened tenders in March, during which a total of 53 construction companies submitted the bidding documents. After undergoing the tender assessment, the construction was granted to Kong Kin Heng Construction Ltd..
The construction is estimated to cost around 8.3 million patacas.
