The first Asian Martial Arts Games which were scheduled to take place in Bangkok from April 25 to May 3 has been postponed. According to a statement released yesterday by the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, the games organisers were sent a letter from the Olympic Council of Asia stating the date had originally been postponed to be held between June 6 and June 14. However, the bureau said it had received another statement from the Olympic Council of Asia stating the games had, again, been postponed. According to yesterday's statement, the first Asian Martial Arts Games are now scheduled to take place between August 1 and August 9 in Bangkok. Macau has registered for five of the martial arts modalities, mainly Judo, Karate-do, Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Wushu. Two emergency numbers
Macau has two 24-hour emergency numbers – 993 and 999. Due to the number of inquiries recently received, the Judiciary Police (PJ) yesterday issued a statement clarifying that the hotline 993 does not in any case substitute that of 999. “The 993 hotline is in fact a PJ emergency [contact] number,” the statement read, adding that the this number was created specifically for locals to report severe crimes, while 999 is an emergency hotline that belongs to the Public Security Police (PSP) and the Fire Brigade (CB). However, “the 993 hotline does not invalidate the 999 hotline, nor vice-versa, but compliment each other,” the statement read. Similarly to other countries and regions, Macau decided to maintain more than one hotline to better serve the public. |
