A couple allegedly collaborated to steal gaming chips from tables and were yesterday apprehended after the police reviewed the surveillance records. Chan Kin Hong, spokesperson of the Judiciary Police (PJ) said that of the couple, the female suspect was currently working as a croupier at a casino in Macau where she had a suspicion of “overpaying chips” to the male accomplice. According to Chan, the two pretended to exchange less amounts of chips through the gaming table that the female dealer hosted. Starting from October this year, the suspect had stolen chips which totalled 190,000 patacas by using such a method. Both of them have admitted conducting such an act at least nine times, said the spokesperson. The female was surnamed Choi, a 21-year-old Macau resident, while the male suspect was surnamed Ho, a 24-year-old Macau resident currently not employed. The two were in a relationship. The spokesperson also said that most of the amount that the two had stolen was mainly used on shopping and gambling. Both of them have been taken into custody and will be transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office.
