Macau-Hong Kong-Zhuhai bridge design approved PDF Print E-mail

The design of the bridge between Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai was approved by the Chinese Ministry of Transport for navigation in the area, South China Morning Post reported yesterday.
The newspaper reported that the ministry approved the design of infrastructure that has been discussed between the three sides of the Pearl River Delta for several years now. The bridge is believed will strengthen the role of Hong Kong as a centre of shipping center Regional.
Now the plans for the infrastructure will be delivered to the Central Government and State Commission for National Development for final approval.
Without final costs of construction - the studies point to an expenditure of 40,000 yuan - the bridge between Hong Kong, Macao and Zhuhai will create only at the pre-construction phase around 10,000 jobs and will be financed by 50.2 percent by the Executive of Hong Kong in 35.1 percent by the government of Zhuhai and Macao by 14.7 percent.
The calculation of the responsibility of investment was made in consideration to the relationship between costs and benefits of the work of each party.
The construction of the bridge which got the necessary political and economic support, will have six lanes, over its 30 to 35 kilometres.
The construction will be carried out in phases so as not to disrupt navigation in the three regions.
