Three digital broadcasting channels from the Teledifusao de Macau (TDM) began their testing yesterday.
The CEO of TDM, Manuel Maria Dos Santos Goncalves, said that the digital broadcasts were now at the stage of internal testing and were expected to be opened to the public during the Olympic Games period.
Of the three, one new TV channel “Macau HD” will be broadcasting via High Definition TV (HDTV) and two previous channels “TDM” and “Canal Macau” will be broadcasted via Standard Definition TV (SDTV).
The “Macau HD” channel currently will be broadcasting the same programs as “TDM” but soon will be developed into an individual channel.
However, several “TDM” programs will be broadcasted on the two channel with different time slots.
“TDM” and “Canal Macau” SDTV channels will be broadcasted simultaneously with “TDM's”  simulated broadcasting channel.
Meanwhile, the simulated broadcasting channel will be terminated no earlier than 2012.
